LOOKOUT VALLEY, Tennessee(WDEF) - Hamilton County Sheriff deputies are investigating a shooting that left three people dead.

Shortly after 7pm, Chattanooga Police and Hamilton County Sheriff deputies received a call about shot being fired on the 300 block of Kellys Ferry Place.

When they arrived on scene they found three people dead and a fourth person seriously injured.

Sheriff Jim Hammond said there are so many unanswered questions that his office is asking if anyone saw or heard anything related to the case to contact authorities.

He also talked about how unusual it is investigate a crime scene in which three people are found dead.

"The last time I remember three fatalities and of course most of the public would remember the Signal Mounting killings a number of years ago. That's when we had three individuals killed. Certainly not circumstances similar to this or it would appear but it's highly unusual to get three confirmed deaths in one crime situation," Hammond said.

So far, authorities have not confirmed if the shooter is in custody or one of the three people found dead.

Authorities have not released the names of the victims.
WDEF will have more information once it's released by investigators.
