CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF-TV) -- We've all had the thought as we drive along Cummings Highway on Lookout mountain---what if my car goes over the side?
It actually happened Friday----but all ended well.
DRIVER "The road's really slick....and I started to feel a fishtail...I started to feel the back of it really fishtail ..I tried my best to keep on the road but my breaks locked up."
It wasn't raining but the roadway was wet as college student Stanley Allen and his friend Ryan Keen were traveling west on Cummings Highway.
Near the picnic area, they had a brush with death when the car crashed through the rock wall and tumbled 50 feet down the side of the mountain.
RYAN KEEN, PASSENGER "One minute we're just driving and then the next we're spinning out of control..we hit this wall ..And we just started tumbling down the hill."
The two men were shaken, but otherwise unhurt in the accident.
STANLEY ALLEN "The windows...there's windows on the other side that are broken...that's the only way we could get out ..the doors were locked up..we had to go through the windows.
They waited while a wrecker was called and the recovery was underway.
RYAN KEEN "I'm just amazed the car just went right there...we could have went all the way down the hill..thank God that we didn't."
STANLEY ALLEN "Just by the grace of God ..I can't explain that we survived that without any more than burns from the airbags."
A motorist was killed on that section of Cummings highway last January.
It happened when her S-U-V struck a tree and rolled-over.
The car did not hit the rock wall.
