The Lookout Mountain community is mourning the loss of pilot, Charles Matthews.
The plane he was operating crashed Saturday on the side of the mountain, just after take off.
We are told he is an experienced pilot and president of Crates Leather Company.
No word on what caused the wreck.
He leaves behind a wife and kids.
The owner of the Lookout Mountain Flight Park tells us, "He was a great pilot and a great person. We are still in shock over his loss."
