Ties between the Tennessee Valley and Taiwan are set to grow stronger in the coming months and years as both UTC and Chattanooga State are linking to two of Taiwan's top ranking Universities,  National Chung Hsing University and Ping Tung University.

Lucien Ellington director of the UTC Asia programme believes the connections between both regions can influence the greater student body.

Lucien,"The benefits potentially will accrue to business students, students in arts and sciences and to students in  education and engineering."

Guest speaker and author Shelley Rigger feels the connections between Chattanooga and Taiwan can also play a part in local business and economics.

Shelley,"Both Taiwan and mainland China  are huge economic players and a lot of the economic activity that includes them starts some place else, in Tennessee or North Carolina where I am from somewhere in the US."

Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural office, Anna Kao already feels welcome in Chattanooga.

"Beautiful scenery, natural resources, and most of all the warmth and friendship among the people, I think that is the most important thing and impresses us the most."
