CHATTANOOGA, TN, (WDEF)-At least 25 people have been identified with symptoms of Salmonella and Campylobacter.

UTC Freshman,"My roommate got the food poisoning from eating at crossroads, she was really sick and had to go to the bathroom all the time and she had a really bad fever for a couple of days."

Chattanooga-Hamilton county health department is working with UTC in a full investigation that's yet to uncover the cause of the outbreak.

Chuck Cantrell of UTC,"Maybe a certain menu item that was served maybe just the way something was handled one day, we just don't know."

"There are just some times we are not able to identify the source of the illness, but we do our best to make sure everything is in place to make sure it doesn't happen again."

UTC has notified all the students and are doing their best to fix the problem immediately.
Crossroads and the Kitchen staff have been inspected at random and continue to receive near perfect grades.

"We take it very seriously, we want our students to be healthy we want our faculty and staff to be healthy. We want visitors that come to our campus to know they're having a safe experience, so we welcome the health department to come in."
These bacteria are very prevalent in poultry products and proper preparation is important.
The health department wants to stress the importance of disinfecting cooking surfaces, and remind us of some old fashioned advice.

Netti Gerstle Communicable Disease Program,  "Wash your hands, just like your mama always told you. Wash your hands, wash your hands!"

Representatives say they haven't seen any more cases but continue to ask any students or faculty that might be experiencing symptoms to contact the health department or the UTC student health center.
