It's 5 years in a row of tuition rises at UTC.

Cindy Carrol, UTC,"A 6% increase in tuition for the coming academic that will increase our funding approximately 3.4 million dollars">

But Cindy Carroll says the increase in fees is needed.

"That money will be used for paying salaries, it will be used for hiring more faculty and for more operating increases in our budget"
But what about students who are already enrolled and are concerned about the 300 dollar a year rise.

Diane Cox, Financial Aid Director,"Make sure that students know of all the resources available to help pay for those costs, we definitely do not want a student to not finish because of that 6% increase"

In state tuition will now be just over 6000 dollars as Trustees voted  on the 2014 Fiscal Year budget.

Enrollment has grown at UTC annually since 2005. Over 11,000  students attended the university last fall, a 35 percent increase over the past seven years.
