CHATTANOOGA, TN, (WDEF)- VW Chattanooga are contenders to manufacture the new CrossBlue SUV.
Officials confirmed that Chattanooga's plant are mounting a serious challenge to be considered if the vehicle is given the green light.
Local mechanics and VW supporters are excited by the prospect, Joe KirkPatrick,"VW is a part of the family, i've worked on them for 35 years and if you had asked me then if we could ever make Volkswagen cars here in Chattanooga i would have not believed you".
Locals feel the SUV if made here would be a symbol for the area with one Chattanoogan adding, "Its a family car and this is a family orientated area".
Autoweek believe the car is already in line to be made here in 2015 but officials are declining to comment further.

VW has to produce a higher quality product.....Passat is tied for last in class in reliability. Build quality is good, engineering and parts are poor quality leading to reliability issues. Several VW/Audi cars (2.0T engine) are classed as lemons in some states. VW/Audi MUST address these issues if it wants to compete!
