On March 5th, Chattanooga voters will elect a mayor and 9 city council members.
Tonight, and every night next week, we'll let you hear from each candidate.
First, district 8, with Andrae McGary and challenger Moses Freeman....
And then, District 9, Peter Murphy and Yusef Hakeem.

ANDRAE McGARY, INCUMBENT DISTRICT 8 "Once I am re-elected, I will continue to fight, continue to get police cars, continue to support raising the pay of police officers, increasing the number of police officers. All these things are important toward helping our city continue to fight the crime problem."

MOSES FREEMAN, CHALLENGER DISTRICT 8 "People need to feel safe in their neighborhood, so crime is my number one priority. That's the first thing that I will work on when I get there.....number 2 is economic development within the neighborhood."

PETER MURPHY, INCUMBENT DISTRICT 9 "I want to keep working on the great progress we've made on crime since I've been in office. Violent crime is down 20% in Chattanooga, property crimes down 17%, and it keep going down and it keeps going down because of the great work of our police officers and the team work I've brought to them."

YUSEF HAKEEM, CHALLENGER DISTRICT 9 "Crime and safety is the issue citizens have shared with me, and to that end we're going to have more police presence ..we're going to have better lighting ..and organize community efforts to remove crime..secondly, economic development and jobs.
