A local family now has a Christmas tree to help spread holiday cheer.
WDEF News 12 delivered the first of four trees in our Decoration Donation Promotion to the Rodriguez family this morning.
Here's how it works.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield gave us the trees.
Our generous viewers have been dropping off new or gently used ornaments.
And Dreanne, Joe and Chip are using them to decorate the tree during News 12 this morning.
The Salvation Army then finds a family for the special delivery.
Kimberly George, Salvation Army, "As you can see, it was real special to this family to receive a Christmas tree...they didn't have one. They lost their only Christmas tree in a fire apparently a few years ago and they haven't been able to replace it. So, all the kids...you saw the excitement of putting on the ornaments and um...it's now becoming a lot more like Christmas. "
We're still collecting ornaments.
Just bring them by the station during business hours.
