Walker County schools finest teachers gathered on Wednesday for the Teacher of the Year banquet.
Gilbert Elementary School's Karen Neal walked away with the award.
Neal teaches third grade.
She and her fellow nominees were selected by their schools.
They submitted their personal teaching philosophies to a panel for consideration.
