The City Prayer Team in Cleveland, Tennessee Takes Part in Global Day of Prayer

Sunday, May 11th Christians in 212 Nations will take part in a 24 hour prayer session literally encompassing the Globe.

It is Global Day of Prayer, and this week Christians in Cleveland, Tennessee are getting in on the action.

This week the City Prayer Team meets at the International Prayer Center in Cleveland.  They sing, "Worship Him, Jesus Christ our Lord."

These prayer warriors are part of a much larger group in Cleveland, Tennessee.

City Prayer Team member Iris Ray says, "Prayer can change, not just families, it can change cities, it can change nations, it can make a difference in every area of your life."

Members of the City Prayer Team, more than 100 people strong, meet once a week to bring concerns to the Lord.

Now the Team joins forces with Christians around the world for the Global Day of Prayer.

Living Word Church Pastor Larry Cockerham says, "This is not the work of any few people. This is the work of God that is working through many people all across denominational lines working together for the kingdom of God."

The event has grown to include more than 230 Million believers.

It's part of a transformation prayer movement, and in Cleveland it's fully endorsed by city leaders...

Mayor Tom Rowland says, "I think it's just amazing that we can do this praying not only for our county, but all the cities, and nations around the world."

Those involved say its making all the difference...

Global Day of Prayer Cleveland Coordinator Pastor Michael Obi says, "The city's not perfect, like you know. But we're beginning to feel the blessings of God upon this city."

The 90 days after the Global Day of Prayer are a time for Christians to put physical action with their prayers.

The City Prayer Team in Cleveland will help to build two Habitat for Humanity homes.
