Two students at the University of the South were killed this morning on the Cumberland Plateau.
Four girls were headed to crew practice at around seven A-M.
Troopers say their vehicle turned into the path of an 18 wheeler on Highway 41A and Airport Road.
The two girls in the front were killed.
The two in the back seat were flown to Erlanger where they are in stable condition.
The driver of the truck was also treated for injuries at a local hospital.
The University has released the names of the victims.
They are Katie Christiansen of Chattanooga and Kathleen Beach from Clarksville.
The injured girls are Arden Jones from Greenwood, Virginia and Anna Summs of Cookeville. ![]()

What an amazingly shallow thing to argue about or even bring up in the first place. 2 students are killed and 2 others are taken to the hospital and you bring up poor journalism. Thoughts and prayers go out to the families.

Sad...

What a poorly written article. The folks at WDEF killed all four people in the lead sentence. Very sloppy journalism. This is why stations like WDEF are losing the war with blogs. They can't get the most basic of facts correct. The person who wrote this story should be fired.

Correction

I apologize for the error in the first line and have now corrected it. Of course, by reading the entire story, you could tell that it was a mistake. As both a reader and writer of blogs, I do find it humorous that you think they are more error free than the media.

Two Separate Issues
I agree that online journalists do not seem to edit very carefully. I repect Mr. Parker's correcting his error. I am sure the person or people who commented on the journalistic and editing errors are not cold-hearted and very likely feel mercy for those who lost loved ones. Their comments were not made to the families but to the writer. It's important to take into account the audience for whom the comment was intended.
