Volkswagen Continues Chattanooga Listening Tour, Planning Partnerships
Volkswagen's move into Chattanooga continues at a feverish pace.
Since announcing a new assembly plant last month, the German automaker has kept busy.
Volkswagen recently finished a hiring fair - and will soon finalize who will make that first group of employees. Work also continues on overall labor force needs, while site prep and permit acquisition for the plant move forward.
Volkswagen officials are also on a listening tour, hoping to become a good corporate neighbor. VW Spoksperson Jill Bratina says "there's so much opportunity there's so many great programs in this community, we really want to learn more about them and look at the best partnerships moving forward."
Volkswagen officials plan to meet with Schools Superintendent Jim Scales this week.
They'll also begin discussions with Chattanooga's city forester about planting saplings to replace trees removed from Enterprise South.
