Volkswagen Site Gets Last Minute Preps Before Construction Begins Next Week
Work at the Enterprise South Volkswagen site reaches a fever pitch as last minute preparations continue before construction begins next week.
Crews have moved thousand of cubic yards of earth to level the site.
The one billion dollar VW plant represents one of the largest investments in Hamilton County ever.
County Commissioner Bill Hullander says the site will be ready to go, "I was out there one day last week and there was over 200 pieces of equipment working. We're very pleased with what's happened out there and we're about ready to turn that over to them and let them start pouring concrete."
Hullander says Volkswagen executives are excited about their choice to build in Chattanooga.
And he says, economically, it couldn't have come at a better time.
