WDEF News 12's own Allen Fairbanks brought home Chattanooga's only Emmy win for the year.
Fairbanks competed among the best in the Mid-South Region in the Editor/News category.
The awards ceremony was held Saturday night in Nashville.
Fairbanks says, "I didn't do it for an Emmy or an award or even to please others in the business. I wanted to do something that would grab the viewers attention and make them more interested in their local news. I just wanted to do it in a way that was completely different than what they're expecting to see...and as long as they're happy, I'm happy."
Last year Fairbanks was also recognized as the Associated Press Photographer of the Year.
