A Whitfield county woman was killed Tuesday morning after her car and a dump truck collided on a rural road.
It happened around 10 a.m. On highway 2-oh-1 at Dunnagan Road northwest of Dalton.
The Georgia State Patrol was called and officers shut down the busy east-west roadway for 2 hours while crews came to clean-up about 8 tons of asphalt that spilled when the truck overturned.
The driver of the small sedan was trapped inside and freed by officers and an EMS crew.
Cpl. Darren Gleaton\Georgia State Patrol
"From the physical evidence on the roadway, it's apparent the driver of the vehicle..the passenger car..the Accura..was on the wrong side of the roadway..and the driver of the dump truck did try to avoid the impact."
The driver of the car is still unidentified.
She was rushed to Erlanger by Life Force...where she died shortly after arrival.
