Congressman Zach Wamp scolds the House for not extending the foreign surveillance act.

Wamp made the remarks Saturday at a news conference where Senator Lamar Alexander was pushing Congress to act on a tax credit for homebuyers.

Wamp notes that effective today..the act has lapsed.

He says the United States Senate saw fit to extend the act but thinks politics played a role in the House's decision.

Wamp adds that the country is not listening to the calls needed to protect the country from people that seek us harm.

He did say that the issue will hopefully be brought back up in the next couple of weeks.

Rep. Zach Wamp adds, "It's very obvious in this country that we foil the attempts of the terrorists to bring harm on our country and this law is very much a part of the tools that our intelligence gathering services need."

The House and Senate will meet again a week from Monday.
