Students at Sequoyah High School have a special way to work off their lunch. They pop in a video, find the beat, and start moving.

12th grader Mallory Eldridge says the exercise is fun. "We got some people with a little bit of chub chub going on, so we go here to work out."

The students are taking part in the Sequoyah High School exercise club. Some days it's dance, other days it's yoga or martial arts.

Teacher Chrissy Cooper actually came up with the idea for club. Cooper says, "It was an initiative that Governor Bredesen asked us to do in our classes, to start moving the kids around. And you can only walk around the building so many times."

Now, the students do much more than walking around. The exercise club is offered every day at school. A different teacher takes the helm to lead the group on a given day, and students say it's paying off.

"We don't have a sports program," says Eldrige. "We've got gym maybe one semester. So, I just thought it was a really good idea, because if we get in the habit here, we're going to make it a habit at home."

Teachers do hope to instill some life long habits, and thanks to the exercise club, students sweat up a storm, and get in shape at the same time.
