GA Governor Suspends Pending Increase in State Gas Tax

Georgia motorists will get a little relief at the pump come July 1st.
Governor Sonny Perdue today suspended a scheduled increase in gas taxes.
Record gas prices over the past six-months meant Georgians would have faced a hike in the state tax next month.
The tax would have gone up nearly three-cents.
Perdue says suspending the increase will benefit some of our most important industries, including agriculture, tourism, aviation and logistics, as well as motorists.
Gas prices in the Chattanooga and North Georgia area did *not* rise today.
AAA says a gallon of regular remained at a record $3.81 for a second straight day.
That's 83-cents more than last year.
The lowest price reported today by our spotters is $3.74 off I-75 in Athens.
