A study released yesterday gives us new details on how a high
speed rail line would work between Chattanooga and Nashville.
It would be part of a larger link from Chicago to Savannah.
Here are the details.
The primary route would follow I-24 from Chattanooga to Nashville.
The trip would take about 50 minutes one way.
And a ticket would cost you about 75-dollars.
Supporters believe the time is right for a Mag-Lev project.
Wayne Cropp of The Enterprise Center says "course, with the price of gas going up at the pump has really had an impact on drawing attention to this whole project..and giving us a good push. There's a lot of interest in congress and elsewhere to find some alternative to the problems we're experiencing with transportation, infrastructure, energy and the environment."
Of course the Nashville link is dependent on a Chattanooga to Atlanta train.
Supporters hope to have it running by the year 20-30.
