Publix supermarket representatives visited with local business owners, city officials and others today to reveal plans for two Chattanooga stores. Brenda Reid of Publix says they will open their first local store in the old Winn Dixie on East Brainerd Road sometime this summer. They plan to construct a new store on Hixson Pike by 2008. Reid says, "We opened stores in Nashville four years ago and our trucks drive right through here. It just made good sense. We've been looking at Chattanooga for a while now and the timing just seemed right to come to this town." The two stores will bring around 2-hundred 50 new jobs to Chattanooga.
