The Rev. Jesse Jackson visits Chattanooga to talk to Volkswagen officials about his hopes the automaker's new plant there will benefit minorities.
It's part of the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition's scheduled meetings with automakers across the country.
Volkswagen officials have said they want 10 percent of the new plant construction to be placed with minority suppliers when production starts by 2011. The company also is aiming for 5 percent of components to come from minority outfits in 2011 and up to 10 percent by 2015.
Jackson toured the plant site this morning before speaking to the public this afternoon. We'll have more tonight at 6:00pm.
