The Tennessee Department of Health awarded four "Shining Star" awards today to four Chattanooga groups, including WDEF News 12.
Our station received recognition for our "Obesity wake-up call" series which aired in February 2008. The series focused on the obesity problem in Chattanooga and what's being done locally to address it. WDEF news 12's Joe Legge accepted the award on behalf of the station. The "Shining Star" awards honors programs making a difference in the health of Tennesseans. Other local organizations that won include the Urban League of Chattanooga for its "Sister's Together" program, Outdoor Chattanooga for its "Bicycle Fleet" effort, and United Way of Chattanooga for their "Kid Fitness" program. |
