One of Hamilton County's best known politicians is calling it a career.

County Commissioner Curtis Adams announced Monday he will not seek another term.  He has represented District 8 for a record six terms.

During that time, Adams earned the reputation of one of the commision's most colorful members.

The commissioner got two new schools built in East Ridge and he says he has voted for "every good thing that's happened" in Hamilton County... Including Enterprise South.

The 76 year-old says many factors went into this decision.  "I believe if [Hamilton County Mayor] Claude [Ramsey] had decided not to run I would have," Adams said Monday afternoon.  "Not that I'm that smart, but you just hate to leave that much experience. You see Claude [Ramsey] has 30 something years and with my 22, you just lose a lot of history."

Adams says he has 10 months to figure out what to do next.
