1918 [0]1918

The year is 19-18.

We're standing on top of the tallest building in town back then.. The James building.

This panoramic shot lookus up 8th street toward the dome building.

The building on the left is an early version of the Hamilton National Bank.

The building on the right end is Loveman's Department Store.

In the background, you can see the county courthouse (you can click on the photo to get a closer look).

Now let's show you what it looks like now.

We have to break the old panoramic shot down into two pictures for you now.

The roof of the James Building still looks the same.

The Hamilton National Bank was rebuilt in 1966 into the city's tallest (for awhile).  It is now First Tennessee.

2007 [0]2007The Suntrust building was constructed in the late sixties (called American National Bank back then).

But you can still see the dome building at the end of the street.

Over the hill is the state office building on McCallie Avenue.

And the Loveman's building is still on the end, but now they are condos.

We want to thank Photographer Bruce Morgan for dangling over the ledge today for this shoot.

And thanks to the staff of the James building for pointing buildings out for us.
