Provo, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - BYU guard Matt Carlino will graduate and transfer for his final season of eligibility, Cougars coach Dave Rose announced Tuesday.

Carlino, a fourth-year junior, transferred to BYU from UCLA during the 2010-11 season. After sitting out the rest of that campaign and the first 10 games of the 2011-12 season due to NCAA transfer rules, Carlino made an immediate impact on the Cougars, averaging 12.2 points and 4.6 assists as a freshman.

Carlino has improved every year in Provo, averaging a career-best 13.7 points with 4.3 assists and 1.7 steals per contest as a junior, earning an All-WCC honorable mention and helping BYU to an NCAA Tournament appearance.

He leaves BYU seventh in team history in assists, sixth in steals and sixth in 3-point field goals.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity coach Rose and his staff have given me," Carlino said in a statement. "I feel very blessed that I was able to represent BYU."

Carlino plans to graduate this June with a bachelor's degree in recreation management and youth leadership.
