Durham, NC (Sports Network) - Mike Krzyzewski added a familiar face to his coaching staff, announcing that former Duke All-American Jon Scheyer will return to the Blue Devils as a special assistant for the 2013-14 campaign.

"I am extremely fortunate to be able to come back to Duke," Scheyer stated."It is a tremendous honor to be on Coach K's staff and it is something I will cherish. I want to continue to learn from the entire staff and bring whatever I can to help the program."

The position Scheyer will be taking over was formerly held by Nate James, who was recently promoted to assistant coach. Among Scheyer's duties will be reviewing game film and helping the coaching staff in configuring game plans.

"What a great addition to the Duke Basketball staff," said Krzyzewski. "Jon Scheyer is one of the amazing champions we've had in this program and he's certainly one of the greatest young men to ever wear the Duke uniform. He's universally loved by Duke fans. It is incredibly exciting to be part of his journey to become a coach. Jon will add all the things he brought to Duke as a player, this time as a member of our staff. We are so proud that Jon is joining us at Duke."

Scheyer played a part in the 2010 NCAA championship as well as two ACC championships during his time as a Blue Devil, lettering from 2007 to 2010. Scheyer earned both First-Team All-ACC and First-Team All-ACC Tournament honors his senior season, as well as being tabbed a Second-Team All-American after averaging 18.2 ppg, 4.9 apg, and 1.6 spg.

Scheyer finished 10th on the all-time scoring list at Duke with 2,077 points. His 144-consecutive game streak is tied for the second-longest in school history and he is third on the all-time list in both free throw percentage (.861) and made free throws (608). Scheyer's 297 made 3-point field goals put him at fourth on the school's all-time list.
