Fullerton, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - In jeopardy of falling out of the national polls, 25th-ranked Marquette takes to the floor this afternoon in the Wooden Legacy against the George Washington Colonials at Titan Gym.

On Thursday, the Golden Eagles went up against tournament host Cal State Fullerton and managed to post an 86-66 win, the team's second victory in the last three outings. Marquette lost to Arizona State on Monday in Tempe, 79-77.

As for the Colonials, they're the ones showing off an unblemished record after five games. The team needed to go to overtime on Thursday against Miami, but still managed to post a convincing 71-63 win against their toughest competition to date.

This game represents the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

Once the Colonials got the game against Miami into overtime yesterday there was little problem taking down the Hurricanes as GW limited the squad to just 1-of-8 shooting from the floor, including 0-of-5 behind the 3-point line, in the bonus session. The Colonials put five players in double figures, beginning with Nemanja Mikic off the bench with 16 points, followed by Maurice Creek with 15. Isaiah Armwood notched a double-double consisting of 12 points and 11 boards, while Kethan Savage and Joe McDonald put up 11 and 10 points, respectively.

On a team that is putting up a healthy 85.8 ppg, Creek leads the way with 16.8 ppg, stemming from his 54.8 percent shooting beyond the arc. Armwood checks in with 14.8 ppg and is also first on the unit with 9.0 rpg and 14 blocked shots, while Savage (11.8 ppg) and Kevin Larsen (11.0 ppg) also play key roles on the George Washington offense.

More than anything else, the Golden Eagles dominated Fullerton on the glass Thursday, posting a 40-20 rebounding advantage, not to mention limiting the Titans to just five boards at the offensive end. On offense, Marquette knocked down 55.7 percent of shots from the field, including 7-of-16 beyond the arc as both Jamil Wilson (24 points) and Jajuan Johnson (18) both knocked down all three of their tries out on the perimeter. Davante Gardner also accounted for 18 points and matched Wilson on the glass with nine rebounds in only 20 minutes off the bench.

Marquette, a team that was held to a measly 35 points in a loss to Ohio State a few weeks back, is still producing 72.2 ppg on the strength of Gardner's 14.3 ppg, while Wilson checks in with 11.7 ppg and the duo combine for close to 12 rebounds per contest. The team has played well on the glass, holding a rebounding edge of more than eight per game, but shooting the ball beyond the arc (.255) has become a real issue despite their efforts yesterday.
