Syracuse, NY ( - Syracuse point guard Tyler Ennis announced Thursday his plans to forgo his remaining collegiate eligibility and declare for the NBA Draft.

Ennis heads to the pros off one outstanding season with the Orange in which he averaged 12.9 points, 5.5 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 2.1 steals while starting all 34 games. His performance helped Syracuse put together a school-record 25-0 start to the 2013-14 season and a No. 1 overall ranking in the national polls for three weeks.

"I'd like to thank coach [Jim] Boeheim, the coaching staff, my teammates and the amazing fans of Syracuse for the opportunity to play at a great university like Syracuse," said Ennis. "I feel this experience has helped prepare me to fulfill my lifelong dream -- to play in the NBA."

Ennis, a finalist for the Wooden Award, Naismith Trophy and Wayman Tisdale Freshman of the Year Award, is widely regarded to be taken in the first round in this year's draft.
