Recap: Idaho State vs. Sacramento St

Pocatello, ID (Sports Network) - Joe Eberhard's three-pointer with one second remaining was just what Sacramento State needed as the Hornets captured a 70-67 win over the Idaho State Bengals in Big Sky Conference play at Reed Gym.

Eberhard finished with a team-high 16 points for the Hornets (10-18, 5-11 Big Sky), followed by Heath Hoffman with 15 points, Jackson Carbajal 13 and John Dickson 10 points as the team snapped a four-game slide in the final game of the regular season.

The Bengals (9-19, 7-8) were paced by Kenny McGowen who erupted for 30 points, shooting 6-of-12 behind the three-point line and a perfect 6-of-6 at the free- throw line. Andre Hatchett chipped in 13 points, while Chase Grabau logged 10 rebounds in an effort to offset his mere 2-of-9 shooting from the floor.

ISU, which has now lost three straight and five of the last six, shot only 4- of-12 behind the three-point line and 3-of-7 at the free-throw line in the first half, yet the Bengals still put up a 33-27 lead at the break.

In the second half Sacramento bounced back from shooting only 34.6 percent from the floor before intermission by hitting on a sensational 60.0 percent, bringing the Hornets back into contention so Eberhard could give the team the win.

Despite the victory the Hornets, who won the rebounding battle 39-28, were eliminated from Big Sky Conference Tournament contention two nights ago when they fell to Portland State.
