Recap: Eastern Ky vs. SIU Edwardsville

Richmond, KY (Sports Network) - Jerome Jones finished with a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the SIU Edwardsville Cougars in a 63-58 win over the Eastern Kentucky Colonels in an Ohio Valley Conference battle at McBrayer Arena.

Derian Shaffer added 17 points in the win for SIUE (9-16, 6-9 OVC), while Mark Yelovich notched 16 points to go with 11 boards.

Jaron Jones scored 17 points and pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds to pace Eastern Kentucky (15-15, 6-9), which also got 10 points a piece from Eric Stutz and Joshua Jones

The Colonels were stifled to the tune of 25.0 percent from the field during the opening frame, allowing SIU Edwardsville to take a 25-21 lead into the break.

The Cougars then turned in a respectable 44.0 percent effort from the floor over the final 20 minutes to escape with a five-point victory.

Eastern Kentucky hit just 3-of-27 from beyond the arc during the meeting.
