Recap: Morehead State vs. SIU Edwardsville

Morehead, KY (Sports Network) - Drew Kelly scored 21 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Morehead State Eagles as they bested the SIU Edwardsville Cougars, 76-61, in Ohio Valley Conference action at Johnson Arena.

Milton Chavis added 10 points for MSU (17-14, 10-6 OVC) as it concluded its regular season with two wins in a row.

Corey Wickware and Mark Yelovich finished with 18 points each for SIUE (9-17, 6-10). Derian Shaffer grabbed a game-high seven rebounds and Reggie Reed handed out seven assists in 17 minutes of action.

The Eagles opened up the game in a 6-0 run before they took a 31-22 advantage into halftime. MSU's lead came after it hit 44.8 percent of its field goals in the opening period, while it limited the Cougars to just 35 percent shooting.

SIUE heated up after the break and shot 59.1 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes, however the Eagles still managed to extend their lead by draining 12-of-16 at the foul line in the second half.

MSU did a much better job handling the ball as it only committed nine turnovers. SIE was guilty of 22 turnovers.
