Recap: Coll of Charleston vs. Ga Southern

Charleston, SC (Sports Network) - Trent Wiedeman scored 18 points as the College of Charleston Cougars toppled the Georgia Southern Eagles 58-53 in a Southern Conference battle at TD Bank Arena.

Andrew Lawrence and Antwaine Wiggins each scored 10 points while handing out seven and five assists respectively for Charleston (18-11, 9-8 SoCon). The Cougars have now won five of their last six.

Willie Powers netted 17 and Ben Drayton chipped in 10 for Georgia Southern (14-12, 12-5) which had its six game winning streak snapped.

Charleston led 30-23 at the break after shooting 44.0 percent from the floor while outscoring Georgia Southern 15-3 from beyond the arc.

The Cougars kept a similar pace converting on 45.5 percent of its shots in the second half while the Eagles converted only 39.3 percent of its field goal attempts.

Despite the loss Georgia Southern was the better team on the boards with a 34-25 edge in rebounds.
