Recap: Eastern Ky vs. IUPU-Ft Wayne

Richmond, KY (Sports Network) - Jaron Jones scored 22 points and pulled down nine rebounds as the Eastern Kentucky Colonels downed the IUPU-Fort Wayne Mastodons, 78-69, in a BracketBusters contest at McBrayer Arena.

Joshua Jones added 17 points for the Colonels (15-14) who had lost three of their last four. D'Mitri Riggs scored 12 points and dealt out six assists as Eastern Kentucky moved to 6-0 at home in non-conference games this season.

Frank Gaines topped all scorers with 30 points for the Mastodons (10-17) who have lost seven straight and 11 of their last 12. He was 10-of-15 from the field and 7-of-10 from the foul line. Gaines also pulled down five rebounds.

Eastern Kentucky led 36-33 at halftime after shooting 14-of-31 from the floor in the first half. The Mastodons were even better, going 13-of-25 from the field.

Eastern Kentucky stretched the lead to 14 with 15:53 to go and IUPU-Fort Wayne got no closer than seven the rest of the way. The Colonels were 14-of-26 from the floor after halftime.

The Colonels were 10-of-24 from three-point range.
