Recap: Georgia State vs. Hofstra

Richmond, VA (Sports Network) - Eric Buckner posted a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds as the sixth-seeded Georgia State Panthers routed the 11th-seeded Hofstra Pride 85-50 in the opening round of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament at Richmond Coliseum.

James Fields put in 14 points, Devonta White had 13 and Josh Micheaux handed out seven assists for Georgia State (21-10) which will take on No. 3 seed George Mason in the second round tomorrow.

The CAA's regular season leading scorer Mike Moore put in 16 points to lead Hofstra (10-22) while Stevie Mejia had 14 and Nathaniel Lester chipped in 11.

Georgia State was impressive in the first half breaking out to a 45-24 lead at the break by shooting 59.3 percent from the field and holding Hofstra to just eight field goals.

The Panthers kept their foot on the gas in the second half shooting an even better 60.0 percent from the floor while the Pride lagged behind at 28.6 percent.

Georgia State dominated in all aspects of the game outrebounding Hofstra (35-23) and outscoring the Pride on points in the paint (48-18) and points off turnovers (23-6).
