Recap: Rhode Island vs. La Salle

Kingston, RI (Sports Network) - Tyreek Duren scored 21 points and Jerrell Wright posted a double-double as the La Salle Explorers earned a 72-65 victory over the Rhode Island Rams in Atlantic-10 action at the Ryan Center.

Wright brought in 15 rebounds to go with 12 points for La Salle (19-7, 8-5 A-10) which ended a brief two-game slide. Tyrone Garland added 14 points and six assists off the bench and Ramon Galloway had 13 points and seven rebounds.

Xavier Munford dropped in 18 points and Nikola Malesevic and Mike Aaman each tallied 15 points for Rhode Island (8-18, 3-10) which has lost back-to-back games. Malesevic also came within a rebound of a double-double.

Rhode Island held La Salle to just 30.4 percent shooting and had twice as many field goals as the Explorers in the first half. However La Salle trailed by just a 30-27 margin at the break by owning an 11-0 edge from the free-throw line.

After halftime the Explorers shot 55.2 percent from the field and knocked down seven shots from 3-point range to pull away for the victory.

La Salle had a 37-31 edge in rebounds. Rhode Island outscored the Explorers, 34-26, in the paint.
