Recap: Maryland vs. Clemson
College Park, MD (Sports Network) - Nick Faust shot 7-of-10 from the floor and led all scorers with 18 points, as the Maryland Terrapins outlasted the Clemson Tigers, 72-59, in Atlantic Coast Conference play at the Comcast Center.
Jake Layman added 12 points and Shaquille Cleare scored 10 for the Terrapins (19-8, 7-7 ACC), who improved to 16-2 at home this season.
The Tigers (13-13, 5-9) suffered their fifth loss in six games. Devin Booker had a team-high 16 points, followed by Jordan Roper with 13 points, and Milton Jennings (nine rebounds) with 10. Rod Hall had a particularly rough game, as he finished with zero points and seven turnovers in 27 minutes.
Clemson jumped out to an early 10-4 lead, although back-to-back 3-pointers by Layman and Faust ignited a 20-6 run for the Terps, who led by 10 with just under six minutes to play in the first half. Clemson closed out the period with a 10-3 spurt to trim the margin to 35-32 at the break.
The Terps took control in the second stanza, as they shot 50 percent from the floor and went up by as many as 16 midway through the frame.
Maryland held a 39-29 rebounding advantage for the game, which included a key 15-5 edge on the offensive glass, to notch its fourth straight win in the head-to-head series.Game Notes
