Recap: Charlotte vs. La Salle

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Pierria Henry scored 20 points as the Charlotte 49ers defeated the La Salle Explorers 74-65 in the Atlantic 10 Conference opener for both schools at Halton Arena.

Henry was 7-of-12 from the field for the 49ers (13-2, 1-0 A-10), who have won two in a row and four of their last five. The other three Charlotte players to score in double-figures were Victor E. Nickerson (13 points, seven rebounds, four assists), Darion Clark (12 points, six rebounds), and DeMario Mayfield (10 points, six rebounds).

Ramon Galloway posted 23 points and nine rebounds on a poor 7-of-29 shooting performance for the Explorers (10-4, 0-1), who have lost two of their last three. Tyreek Duren contributed 12 points, five assists, and three steals while Jerrell Wright just missed a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Charlotte led 33-17 at halftime after holding La Salle to just 21.9 percent shooting from the field in the first period.

The Explorers outscored the 49ers, 48-41, in the second half despite allowing the hosts to shoot 50.0 percent from the floor and convert 17-of-21 at the charity stripe.

Charlotte's bench stepped up and contributed 35 points in the win while La Salle's reserves managed to produce only nine points.
