Recap: Charlotte vs. Fordham

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - DeMario Mayfield scored a team-high 18 points as the Charlotte 49ers defeated the Fordham Rams, 74-68, in Atlantic 10 conference play at Halton Arena.

Mayfield had three assists and two steals off the bench for the 49ers (15-2, 3-0 A-10) fourth straight win. JT Thompson and Darion Clark score 12 and 11 points off the bench, respectively.

For the Rams (5-13, 1-2), Branden Frazier scored a game-high 23 points to go with five boards. Mandell Thomas scored 13 points as Fordham lost it's second game in a row.

Charlotte made 44.8 percent from the floor while limiting the visitors to 37 percent shooting en route to a 31-27 advantage at the half.

Both teams shot nearly identical percentages from the floor in the second half as they did in the first half and Charlotte hit 15-of-20 shots from the free-throw line to hold the Rams at bay.

Charlotte made 26-of-59 from the floor overall while forcing 18 turnovers.

Vickers returns to racing at Las Vegas

In December, doctors discovered that his body was rejecting a patch that was surgically placed over a hole in his heart in 2010. The 31-year-old Vickers had corrective surgery that month, forcing him to miss the Feb. 22 season- opening Daytona 500 and last Sunday's race at Atlanta.
