Recap: Georgia Tech vs. Rice

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Marcus Georges-Hunt dropped in 11 points and cleared nine rebounds as he helped guide the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets to a 54-36 win over the Rice Owls as part of the DirecTV Classic at the Anaheim Convention Center.

The starting five for the Yellow Jackets (3-0) combined to shoot 15-of-30 from the floor in the triumph as they remained undefeated.

The Owls (1-3) were led by Austin Ramljak who led all scorers with 18 points as he converted 6-of-12 shots behind the three-point line off the bench.

Georgia Tech opened the meeting on an 11-0 run and was barely challenged the rest of the way, putting up a 27-19 advantage at the break.

In the second half the Yellow Jackets again opened quickly, moving out to a 16-point lead less than five minutes into the frame thanks to a 13-3 run. At one point the Owls were held more than seven minutes without a made field goal, en route to the 18-point loss.

The 36 points by the Owls are the fewest since the team defeated Tulane by a 32-30 score on Dec. 2, 1982.

With the victory the Yellow Jackets will now take on the winner of the Drake/California meeting on Friday for the right to contend for the title on Saturday.
