Recap: Maryland vs. George Mason

Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Behind a career-high 25 points from Dez Wells, the Maryland Terrapins held off the George Mason Patriots, 69-62, at the BB&T Classic at the Verizon Center.

It was the second straight game Wells has recorded a career-best point total for Maryland (6-1), as he scored 23 points in the Nov. 27 win over Northwestern. Nick Faust added 14 points for the Terps, while Alex Len had 12 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks.

Sherrod Wright and Patrick Holloway each put up 17 points for George Mason (5-3).

Maryland shot a lofty 52 percent from the field in the first half as it went into intermission with a 34-30 lead.

The Terps' shooting percentage went down to 37.5 percent in the second half, but they were able to capture the win by holding the Patriots to just 31 percent from the field in the contest.

Maryland dominated the rebounding battle, 49-34, and it has now won six in a row after losing its opener to Kentucky.
