Recap: Dayton vs. Northern Ill

Dayton, OH (Sports Network) - The Dayton Flyers held the Northern Illinois Huskies to five first half points as they coasted to an easy non-conference win, 60-43, at UD Arena.

Josh Benson and Devin Oliver each scored 12 points to lead Dayton (5-2), which bounced back after a one-point loss to Weber State earlier in the week. Vee Sanford added 11 points and Devon Scott grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

Travon Baker came off the bench to score 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting for the Huskies (1-4). No other NIU player reached double figures.

The Huskies came out flat and shot a miserable 2-of-19 from the floor in the first half. Baker and Akeem Springs had the lone field goals as Dayton led 26-5 at intermission.

NIU came back stronger out of the break and won the second half by outscoring Dayton by four while shooting 59 percent from the field, but it was not nearly enough to erase the deficit created in the opening 20 minutes..

Dayton improves to 2-0 all-time against Northern Illinois. The Huskies remain winless against Division 1 opponents this year.
