Dayton, OH (Sports Network) - Kevin Dillard had 17 points and Josh Benson scored 16 off the bench, as the Dayton Flyers earned a 70-59 win over the Xavier Musketeers in a battle between Atlantic 10 Conference rivals at UD Arena.

Dyshawn Pierre and Matt Derenbecker contributed 10 points apiece to help the Flyers (14-11, 4-7 A-10) avenge a loss to XU in the season's first meeting on Jan. 30.

Semaj Christon had 17 points for the Musketeers (14-10, 7-4), who saw their modest win streak halted at two games. Isaiah Philmore added 12 points, and Travis Taylor chipped in with 10 in the loss.

The Flyers raced out to a 16-6 lead on Vee Sanford's jumper at the 13:21 mark of the opening frame, and they played frontrunner for the rest of the contest. UD went on to shoot 57.1 percent from the floor in the first half while holding Xavier to 36-percent shooting, as the Flyers grabbed a 34-26 halftime lead.

XU made it a three-point game on a dunk by Erik Stenger at the 11:42 mark of the second stanza. However, the Flyers answered with a 9-0 run to regain control. A 3-pointer by Derenbecker and a three-point play by Dillard highlighted the run. UD went on to shoot 13-of-16 from the foul line over the final 20 minutes and saw its lead stretch to as many as 14 late in regulation.

The Flyers converted 21-of-24 free throws for the game and enjoyed big production from the reserves, as they held a 35-17 advantage in bench points to double up the Musketeers.
