Recap: Virginia Tech vs. Virginia

Blacksburg, VA (Sports Network) - Freshman Evan Nolte scored 18 points to lead the Virginia Cavaliers to a 74-58 win over in-state rival Virginia Tech Hokies in an ACC clash at Cassell Coliseum.

Joe Harris shot 6-of-9 from the floor for 17 points as Virginia (13-5, 3-2 ACC) won its second straight game. Justin Anderson and Mike Tobey scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, while Jontel Evans handed out six assists.

Erick Green scored more than half of Virginia Tech's (11-7, 2-3) points with a career-high 35 on 11-of-18 from the floor and 10-of-13 from the foul line. Green and Jarell Eddie each corralled nine rebounds.

Virginia led 34-25 at halftime after shooting 50 percent from the floor, including an impressive 8-of-14 from behind the arc. Green finished the half with 14 points to lead the Hokies.

The Cavaliers continued to pour it on in the second half, shooting 52 percent from the field as it kept the Hokies at arm's length.

Virginia Tech lost despite outrebounding UVA, 32-24. Virginia leads the all- time series, 83-53.
