Recap: La Salle vs. Penn

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Jerrell Wright scored 10 points as the La Salle Explorers cruised by the Penn Quakers, 74-57, in Big 5 play at Tom Gola Arena.

Wright recorded a double-double with 11 boards in the Explorers (10-3) victory. Ramon Galloway and Tyreek Duren contributed 17 points a piece, while Tyrone Garland scored 15 points off the bench as La Salle won for the fifth time in its last six games.

For the Quakers (2-11), Tony Hicks scored a team-high 14 points off the bench. Miles Cartwright scored 11 points but was the only other Quaker in double-figures as the team lost its sixth straight game.

Both teams struggled shooting in the first half. La Salle was 5-of-14 from 3-point range while limiting the visitors to a mere 2-of-7 from behind the arc. The Explorers also knocked down nine foul shots, en route to a 36-26 advantage at the break.

La Salle fixed its shooting in the second making 13-of-23 from the floor including 4-of-8 from long range. The Quakers continued to struggle making only 11-of-33 from the floor.

The Explorers played impressive defense, forcing 21 turnovers and limiting their opponents to a mere 22-of-61 (.361) from the floor on the day.
