Recap: UNC Greensboro vs. Virginia Tech

Greensboro, NC (Sports Network) - Jarell Eddie poured in 28 points as the Virginia Tech Hokies outlasted the UNC Greensboro Spartans 96-87 in a shootout at Greensboro Coliseum.

Erick Green added 26 points of his own for Virginia Tech (4-0) which remains unbeaten with the victory. Robert Brown chipped in 10 points and Marshall Wood had 11 rebounds off the bench.

Trevis Simpson was the lead scorer for UNC Greensboro (1-3) with 25 points while Derrell Armstrong added 23 off the bench. Kelvin McNeil had a double- double of 12 points and 12 rebounds while Korey Van Dussen chipped in 10 points.

In a high scoring first half, Virginia Tech shot 48.4 percent from the floor and knocked down 8-of-13 shots from 3-point range to earn a 45-41 halftime lead.

In the second half Virginia Tech connected on only 9-of-22 shots from the floor but had a 27-8 edge in points from the free throw line to come away with the win.

Virginia Tech blocked eight shots in the game and outscored UNC Greensboro 34-12 from the charity stripe.
