Recap: Tennessee vs. Xavier

Knoxville, TN (Sports Network) - Josh Richardson scored 12 points as the Tennessee Volunteers outlasted the Xavier Musketeers, 51-47, in a non- conference bout at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Yemi Makanjuola pulled down a team-high eight rebounds as well for Tennessee (8-3) which had no other players in double figures. The Volunteers have won four straight games.

Travis Taylor scored 12 points to pace Xavier (7-5) which has lost four of its last five games. Justin Martin hauled in 12 rebounds and Dee Davis dished out six assists.

Xavier led 25-21 at halftime despite hitting just 11-of-36 shots from the field in the first half. Tennessee was even worse (9-of-25) including makes on just 1-of-12 shots from 3-point range.

The Volunteers improved to 41.7 percent shooting and outscored the Musketeers 6-0 from beyond the arc to rally for the win in the second frame.

Tennessee connected on just 3-of-20 shots from beyond the arc but outscored Xavier by a 19-6 margin on points off of turnovers.
