Recap: Auburn vs. IUPU-Ft Wayne

Auburn, AL (Sports Network) - Frankie Sullivan led the way with 26 points as the Auburn Tigers downed the IUPU-Fort Wayne Mastodons, 61-50, in a non- conference clash at Auburn Arena.

Allen Payne added 12 points for the Tigers (1-0), while Rob Chubb posted a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds.

For the Mastodons (0-1) Frank Gaines led all scorers with 32 points, while Joe Reed pulled down 10 rebounds.

Both teams struggled from the floor in the opening half. The Tigers made just 34.5 percent while the Mastodons shot a near identical 34.6 percent. A 7-3 advantage at the free-throw line allowed the Mastodons to take a 27-23 lead into halftime.

After the break, the Mastodons continued to struggle with their shooting, making only 23.1 percent of their field goals. Auburn improved, connecting on 48 percent. After trailing by as many as five in the second half, the Tigers used an 8-0 run midway through the period to take the lead for good, pushing their advantage to as many as 11 as they secured the victory.

Auburn dominated the paint, outscoring Fort Wayne 34-16. The Mastodons scored 14 points off of 16 Tiger turnovers.
