Recap: Kentucky vs. Portland

Lexington, KY (Sports Network) - Alex Poythress and Archie Goodwin scored 15 points apiece, and the Kentucky Wildcats cruised to a 74-46 win over the Portland Pilots in non-conference play at Rupp Arena.

Julius Mays added 13 points and Kyle Wiltjer scored 12 for the Wildcats (6-3), who were ranked No. 8 in the country only a week ago. Nerlens Noel was the lone starter not in double figures, although he finished with seven blocks and nine rebounds to go along with his seven points.

The Pilots (3-6) suffered their third loss in a row, despite 15 points and a game-high 13 rebounds from Ryan Nicholas. Kevin Bailey chipped in with 11 points, albeit on just 4-of-14 shooting from the floor.

It was a tight contest early on, as a layup by Nicholas tied the score at 10-10 at the 12:33 mark of the first half. However, UK answered with a 16-0 run over the next five minutes, and Portland was never able to recover.

After claiming a 35-20 halftime lead, the Wildcats put the game away with a 53.1-percent shooting effort from the floor in the second stanza.

Defensively, UK held Portland to 27.1-percent shooting for the game and forced 18 turnovers.
