Recap: LSU vs. UC Santa Barbara

Baton Rouge, LA (Sports Network) - Johnny O'Bryant scored 13 points and brought down eight rebounds to help Johnny Jones capture his first victory as head coach for LSU as the Tigers defeated the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos 77-63 at the Pete Maravich Center.

O'Bryant played in only 11 minutes for LSU (1-0) but left the game in the first half with an injury. Memphis-transfer Charles Carmouche added 16 points and Shane Hammink and Malik Morgan each finished with 10. Anthony Hickey dished out six assists and also collected seven steals.

Kyle Boswell paced UC Santa Barbara (0-1) with 17 points. Alan Williams added 14 points and a team-high six boards while Michael Bryson chipped in 10 points.

LSU connected on an even 50 percent of its shot attempts in the first half and limited UC Santa Barbara to 37.0 percent shooting to take a 41-32 lead into the locker room.

The Tigers continued to pull away in the second half shooting 39.4 percent from the floor while the Gauchos hit on 37.5 percent of their shots.

LSU shot a scorching 10-of-26 from three point range and forced the Gauchos to commit 23 turnovers.
